Poker ring games II
Both poker tournaments and poker ring games attract a large number of participants and both are kind of live games. But poker ring games are more so because they may often go on for an indefinite period of time and without all players needing to register or required to follow rules of joining and leaving the play. This difference in the format of playing has also resulted in difference in strategies of gameplay in poker tournament and poker ring games.
A major difference between these two formats of poker games is that when a tournament game is being played using the betting structure of ante and blind wagers, the progress in the tournament increases the betting structure at regular intervals. However, in ring poker games played for cash the structure of ante and blind bets remain unchanging. Another important distinction is that in tournaments, a selective types of poker games are on offer whereas in cash or ring poker games, players can choose any form or variant of games they may want to play subject to the permission by the casino house. If the game is being played online, then the choice of variants of play is only restricted by the gaming software of that site.
Among other differences, the most prominent is the allowing of straddles and chops in ring poker games, something that are prohibited according to tournament playing rules. So, a cash game allows live straddle which means the player with privilege of first action may post a double amount of big blind and bet again if unchallenged by any raise. It also allows chopping by players where the participants mutually agree to retract their blind bets if no one lese has placed any wager, a situation that stops the casino house from collecting its usual rake. Such options are expressly disallowed in poker tournaments.
